  • Senator John Moorlach introduces Olympic medalist, Shirley Babashoff on the Senate floor.

  • Senators John Moorlach and Janet Nguyen recognize eight-time Olympic medalist, Shirley Babashoff for accomplishments and service to community.  Ms. Babashoff set six world records and earned a total of eight individual Olympic medals in her career.

  • Senator Jim Nielsen recognizes Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valerity Chaly, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco, Sergiy Aloshyn, Consul of Ukraine in San Francisco, Oleksandr Krotenko, and Governor of Ukraine's Odessa Oblast, Mikheil Saakashvili, in recognition of the 25th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence Day

  • The Senate mourns the loss of Senator Sharon Runner (R-Lancaster) who died of respiratory complications on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 62 years old.  Senator Runner served in both Assembly and the Senate.  She is survived by her husband George, son Micah and daughter-in-law Sandy, daughter Rebekah and son-in-law James, and grandchildren Raider, Hailey, James and Paxton.

  • Ethan Dean is carried on the shoulders of his father, Ken, while hundreds of onlookers cheer.  Ethan has cystic fibrosis and, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation was able to experience what it's like to be a garbage truck driver.  He collected trash and recyclables on a special route through Sacramento, culminating in a hero's welcome at the state Capitol.

  • Sacramento Mayor-elect Darrell Steinberg points out the throng of well-wishers gathered on the Capitol grounds.

  • French Honorary Consul Guy MIchelier addresses the crowd gathered in support for the victims of the recent attack in Nice, France. 

  • On the 8th day of his pushup challenge to bring awareness to veteran suicides, Senator Steve Glazer is joined by Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León and Sacramento Police Officer and Veteran, Michelle Lazark.

  • Senators Steve Glazer, Mark Leno, Hannah-Beth Jackson, Jerry Hill, Anthony Cannella, Ben Hueso and Ted Gaines participate in the 22 push-up challenge to promote awareness of the high rate of American veterans' suicides.
