The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is a large and diverse area, encompassing over 4-million acres along the east slopes of the Cascade Range in Washington.

Since 2012, an area of the Forest that encompasses the Pasayten Wilderness and almost to Winthrop has been part of the National Forest Foundation’s Treasured Landscapes.
Holden Mine is an inactive mine located 50 miles northwest of Chelan. A massive cleanup effort has been ongoing for several years. See website for history and updates on progress.
