Developing cost-effective, reliable PV energy systems and accelerating the integration of PV technology
Photovoltaic (PV) research at Sandia focuses on developing and improving PV technologies and applications by lowering cost and increasing performance and reliability of PV components and systems. Sandia specializes in performance modeling, characterization, and transmission and distribution grid integration. Sandia researchers support the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative and partner with industry, utilities, academia, and other laboratories to make PV power systems more cost-competitive and to remove barriers to large-scale deployment on the grid.
