The statutory purpose of the Department of Public Safety is to promote the detection and prevention of crime, to participate in searches for lost and missing persons, and to assist in cases of statewide or local disasters or emergencies.
Vermont Forensics Lab
Vermont Forensics Lab is the only forensic laboratory in the State of Vermont and provides services to the entire criminal justice system
Vermont Crime Information Center
Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) is the State's repository for a number of criminal record information systems.
Emergency Management & Homeland Security
DEMHS provides assistance to prevent, protect, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural and man-made threats and hazards in order to ensure the safety, quality of life, and economic vitality of the state and its citizens.
Vermont State Police
The Vermont State Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides primary law enforcement services to approximately 200 towns, 90 percent of the land mass, and 50 percent of the population in Vermont.
Division of Fire Safety
The mission of the Division of Fire Safety is to protect the public and the fire service thereby reducing the loss of life and property due to fire and other emergencies in the State of VT.

The Division of Fire Safety provides a number of services related to the safety of residents and guests of the State. 

 

The Vermont State Police is a full-service law enforcement agency that provides primary law enforcement services to approximately 200 towns. 

The mission of the Vermont DEMHS  is to ensure the state’s resilience to disasters.

VCIC is the State's repository for a number of criminal record information systems. 

The VFL is the only forensic laboratory in the State of Vermont and provides services to the entire criminal justice system

Radio Technology ServicesRadio Technology Services plans, designs, installs, and maintains the voice & data communication systems used by the Department of Public Safety.
