Within the HR Career Field, there are several technical areas which one can choose. Regardless of which technical area you are currently in, there is always an opportunity to learn, understand, and specialize in another area. The maps below are designed to guide you in planning your HR career, identify the competencies required for each technical area, identify technical training, and provide the information needed to create an individual development plan (IDP).

These HR career paths are not intended to guarantee promotion or placement into another technical area; however, taking the suggested training courses will ensure that you are prepared technically, analytically and strategically, which in turn will serve as a bolster as you navigate through your HR Career.
