Introduction
The Lexical Systems Group develops, builds, improves, and maintains the UMLS SPECIALIST Lexicon and SPECIALIST NLP Tools. The Lexical Systems group also conducts research comparing word-based and concept-based retrieval algorithms using the SPECIALIST lexicon and SPECIALIST NLP Tools text processing algorithm.
