Apprenticeship Expansion Grant

DWD recently awarded 12 industry-led regional partnerships nearly $7.7 million during the second cycle of the Skill UP Indiana! grant program. Indiana's Unemployment Rate Decreases to 4.4%
Indiana’s unemployment rate decreased by 0.1 percent to 4.4 percent in October. The national unemployment rate for October is 4.9 percent. The state’s labor force, a measure of Hoosiers employed or seeking employment, has increased by 83,409 (2.5 percent) over the year. Indiana’s total labor force stands at over 3.3 million and the state’s 65.0 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 62.8 percent...read full report
DWD To Fund Local Work Ethic Certification Programs
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will provide grants between $25,000 and $50,000 for the development and adoption of community- and employer-recognized work ethic certification programs in communities throughout Indiana. According to the Indiana Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Employer Survey, sixty-three percent of Hoosier employers cite employability skills as the most challenging characteristics to find in applicants and new hires.
