– LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients that help combat appearance-related effects of cancer therapy. Each participant receives a free make-up kit donated by the beauty industry. Offered monthly in Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston.
-REACH TO RECOVERY provides information and support to anyone facing breast cancer through one-on-one visits with trained breast cancer survivors.
-ROAD TO RECOVERY drivers assist cancer patients with rides to their treatments and doctor appointments.
-HOTELING PROGRAM provides free or reduced cost hotel rooms for patients receiving treatment in areas away from their home town.

To provide support to cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, family and loved ones who have been touched by cancer in our rural communities. The Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics Diabetes Self-Management Education/Training/Support Program is for patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes and who have a referral for the program from their primary medical care provider (MD, NP, PA). The program provides education, training, and support in diabetes care to include nutrition, activity, medications, monitoring, risk reduction, problem solving, and coping skills. All goals are tailored to the patient's level of understanding and personal preferences. This is a Medicare covered benefit and most commercial insurances provide coverage as well. Clearwater Valley Hospital and Clinics and St. Mary's Hospital and Clinics offers the National Diabetes Prevention program for anyone 18 and older. This is a 12 month lifestyle change program to reduce the risk of chronic disease and enhance quality of life. The program is facilitated by trained Lifestyle Coaches and is FREE to all participants. Goals include a 5-7% weight loss and an increase of physical activity to 150 minutes a week or more. The program is offered in various sites throughtout all of Clearwater, Idaho, and Lewis counties. Qualis Health is working with local stakeholders to provide Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) classes to people with prediabetes and diabetes, particularly underserved populations. If you struggle with managing your diabetes, here is a workshop that can help! The Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) workshops are free and open to individuals living with diabetes or pre-diabetes. The DSMP program was developed by Standford University and consists of six workshop sessions of 2.5 hours each. Each workshop focuses on problem-solving, decision making, and other self-management skills which help participants face the challenges of living with diabetes. Participants are encouraged to attend with a spouse, companion or caregiver. Registration is required. Participants who take the workshops learn about: monitoring blood sugar, preventing low blood sugar, nutrition and healthy eating plan, preventing and delaying complications, dealing with depression and stress as well as foot care.

Madison Memorial Hospital provides an outpatient diabetes education program focusing on teaching people with diabetes how to manage their health and make healthy day to day choices.
The Diabetes Education Dept. at Madison Memorial Hospital has an ADA Recognized Diabetes Self-Managment Education Program, a Weight Management Program that is Medicaid Approved as well as open to the General Public, and has an Insulin Resistance Education Class as well. We are happy to hold classes for the general public as well as individual teaching at the hospital in both Spanish and English. We have an ADA recognized Diabetes Self-Management Program. We also have a Registered Dietician who is the hospital Out-Patient Dietician. She is able to counsel clients with most any dietary problem. We also have a Weight Management program that is open to all ages. Medicare and Medicaid cover the cost of the Weight Management program if the client's BMI is 30 or over or 18 and under.

For chronic health issues, we can refer community members to the Stanford University sponsored Chronic Disease Self-Management Program classes. We provide meals for senior citizens (and community members) both at our center and home delivery. We offer social activities at our center Monday through Friday from 11am to 1:30pm. Nutrition- Idaho North Central District Health participates in the Women Infant Children (WIC) Program. WIC is a nutrition education program that provides growth and health assessments, referrals to community resources and breastfeeding support. WIC also provides nutritious foods that include fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains that build positive eating habits which can be established and reinforced from the start. There is no cost to families who meet the eligibility guidelines. Pregnant women and families with children up to age 5 are eligible if they live in Idaho and meet the income guidelines.

Oral Health- Sealants are offered to youth ages 5-18 through our school based sealant program. Families on the WIC Program are eligible for sliding scale fluoride varnish, oral exam and nutrition counseling twice per year up to age five.

Physical Activity- Idaho North Central District Health works with volunteers throughout the five county area to offer Fit and Fall Proof exercise classes for older adults. The program is designed to focus on various components associated with balance, including posture awareness and low impact exercised to improve strength, flexibility and endurance. Classes are led by certified volunteers who have received instruction on exercise techniques and personal safety. Components of the Fit and Fall Proof program can reduce the risk of falls, help to maintain static and dynamic balance, take the fear out of falling and build confidence. We also work with childcare providers, work sites, schools and cities to promote healthy active lifestyles through the Idaho Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) Program.

Prediabetes- At Idaho North Central District Health, The National Diabetes Prevention Program is offered at no cost. The Diabetes Prevention Program is a yearlong lifestyle change program that helps individuals prevent type 2 diabetes.

Tobacco Cessation- Free group and one-on-one tobacco cessation counseling to Idaho residents is available. We also work with schools, work sites, and healthcare providers to improve tobacco-users access to, and awareness of, tobacco cessation resources.

SMHC has an RD-facilitated bi-weekly weight management & lifestyle change support group, Healthy Horizons, in Kamiah, from September to May.

The program provides education, training, and support in diabetes care to include nutrition, activity, medications, monitoring, risk reduction, problem solving, and coping skills. All goals are tailored to the patient's level of understanding and personal preferences. This is a Medicare covered benefit and most commercial insurances provide coverage as well. A Bilingual/Spanish Registered Dietitian/Certified Diabetes Educator is available to provide education to the Spanish speaking population.

Prediabetes: At SWDH, we offer Medical Nutrition Therapy counseling to support you throughout each stage of life, as well as pre-diabetes, heart disease, and any other nutrition related problem you may be facing. Our Registered Dietitians have expertise in all aspects of nutrition from early childhood development through the aging process. They work closely with your healthcare provider to ensure that you receive the education you need to make healthy choices for your everyday life.

Physical Activity: We offer the FREE Senior Fit and Fall Proof (FFP) at locations throughout our service area. The FFP is an exercise-based program to prevent falls in our senior population. It assists older adults to improve muscle strength, while increasing balance, posture and flexibility. It also improves mobility, endurance and walking gait.

Tobacco Cessation: Free tobacco cessation classes and or services offered in Adams, Canyon, Gem, Owyhee, Payette and Washington counties. Also offers referrals to the Idaho Quitline

Oral Health: Please specify by listing services. The Idaho Foodbank offers culinary & nutrition education courses free to the public in a variety of settings throughout the state. As Idaho's lead partner for Share Our Strength's Cooking Matters curriculum, we use an evidence-based curriculum that directly addresses culinary and food budgeting strategies which address some of the major barriers to healthy eating for persons living with low income, while providing accurate and relevant nutrition education. Through these courses, Cooking Matters participants learn how to select nutritious and low-cost ingredients and prepare them in ways that provide the best nourishment possible for themselves and their families.

Idaho Women’s Health Check (WHC) is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Breast and Cervical Cancer early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). Since 1996, WHC has collaborated with other programs and agencies across Idaho to plan and coordinate public and professional education designed to increase screening rates for breast and cervical cancer.

Women’s Health Check helps low-income and uninsured women gain access to breast and cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services. Women diagnosed with cancer through WHC may be eligible for Breast and Cervical Cancer (BCC) Medicaid for their treatment.
