CBT-i Coach is for people who are engaged in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia with a health provider, or who have experienced symptoms of insomnia and would like to improve their sleep habits. The app will guide users through the process of learning about sleep, developing positive sleep routines, and improving their sleep environments. It provides a structured program that teaches strategies proven to improve sleep and help alleviate symptoms of insomnia.
CBT-i Coach is intended to augment face-to-face care with a healthcare professional. It can be used on its own, but it is not intended to replace therapy for those who need it.
CBT-i Coach is based on the therapy manual, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia in Veterans, by Rachel Manber, Ph.D., Leah Friedman, Ph.D., Colleen Carney, Ph.D., Jack Edinger, Ph.D., Dana Epstein, Ph.D., Patricia Haynes, Ph.D., Wilfred Pigeon, Ph.D. and Allison Siebern, Ph.D. CBT-i has been shown to be efficacious for insomnia for both Veterans and civilians.
CBT-i Coach was a collaborative effort between VA’s National Center for PTSD, Stanford School of Medicine, and DoD’s National Center for Telehealth and Technology.

Only free app around for CBT-I that does what I need. The sleep prescription feature is fantastic and saves me a lot of time. However, it crashes whenever I save a sleep log entry, although it usually saves correctly. I would love for an ability to export to CSV and the ability to track things that normally impact sleep like caffeine, alcohol, TV and screen usage and medication.

Negative sleep time After looking at a few of the other reviews, I see I am not the only one. I have sleep issues, which is why I have the app. I cannot enter in my true sleep times because I get a message telling me my entry has a negative amount of sleep. There isn't a way to override this. Maybe have a message pop up that says please double check your entry but still let's you save.

Arrogant unhelpful design So I went to bed at ten PM and got up at four AM. I couldn't even enter time in the diary. It said I was trying to enter negative time. The error message gave no help on how to correct it. Imagine how it feels to try and deal with an obtuse app after a poor night's sleep? Looking through the app for help I encountered message after message of plain language pablum that provided little or no actual information.

Its an okay app but NEEDS in provement like for android platform user dont have the ability to see a graph of any type. And maybe have a login to be able to pull up your sleep data on any device.

The first week of use was nothing but frustration. Now I keep a pen-and-paper diary and try to input the week's data on the weekend only. Still super frustrating. App turns off after every saved day. Plus, I think it could be much more comprehensive. It should include an entry for medications, when and how much was taken before sleep, so that I can correlate my nights with meds and without and track sleep length/quality. Also, I keep track of when I wake up in my pen-and-paper diary. Please, please make a desktop/laptop version of this. I hate having to use the phone.

Like the app but can't log my sleep times. Keeps saying it's negative. My sleep hours are not on a normal schedule. Often fall asleep in the am and wake up in the afternoon. One reason I was trying this app. So it's saying I have to be a normal sleeper to use it? Hmmm

What the $#@%? I can't adjust my prescribed bad time it's set for 3:58 p.m. but wind down time is 7:00p.m.? Can you fix this why can't I adjust it I tried reseting all twice & it's stuck on 3:58p.m. Who goes to bed before or at 4 in the afternoon-NUTS, Can you fix this? Or might as well delete this ridiculous app.
So buggy I can't trust anything it says. Defaults to PM for wake time. Increments hours if the minutes roll over while entering time. Nonsensical default times while using sleep log; not based on current time *or* previous entries. Just call out to the system time picker instead of making your own! If there are this many bugs in just the sleep log, I can't even imagine the rest of the app. Not sure why my sleep psychologist suggested this app.
Excellent tool I have used it daily for over two months and there is no doubt that this has made my CBT-I therapy more effective. I highly recommend this app. The IOS version is better because of the graphs it automatically provides and the ability to download your data into a spreadsheet.
Nice app! Not intrusive, your info kept on your phone. almost one week in looks like a great tool to improve my heath. I'm using it.
System keeps crashing after data entered the app sucks and needs an over haul big time it gives wrong advice and tells me I might have an issue with insomnia like no kidding hope about tips to manage the insomnia instead of being vague
Like it. But it has too much white space around each text. Please compact the question lines closer and add an important question before all of them. What time did you start your bedtime routine/what time did you take your sleep medicine. Thank you
More functionality for Android. Great app if you use iPhone. Need method to give feedback or data upload to providers at VA for the Android, Microsoft, or other platforms.
Intelligent Useful, easy to use app for those struggling with insomnia.
Helpful Love the woman's voice on the three guided imagery modules. This app has some tools for those dealing with anxiety, like relaxation breathing. Definitely worth the cost of admission. Wish it had an actual CBT negative thought coaching component. Would pay more for a more robust version of this app.
Good app I wanted to give 5 stars, but it crashes every time I try to save a journal entry. This app otherwise has great tools and learning devices to coach you to better sleep. Please get the bugs out and I will be happy to give it 5 stars.
Room to grow. I love the collection of tools and information. However, the sleep diary is pretty unwieldy, so much so that it's easier to use a pen & paper log. There doesn't seem to be any way to summarize or graph your actual time spent sleeping, which is the main measure many of us are interested in. Additionally, the app confuses/mislabels total time in bed with time trying to sleep.
The sleep diary has a useful set of questions, but is annoying to use, and keeps losing my data while I'm entering it, or not saving it properly. There's also no way to summarize or export the data. The only option listed in the Settings for the sleep diary is "reset all user data", which is definitely not what I'm looking for.
Good app. Learning modules are short and to-the-point. Diary is relatively easy to use, but drops sleep/wake time information I input when I add comments below. It might be useful to include optional fields for pain and stress levels and physical and relaxation exercises as well. Those can be input in comments, but may be forgotten and might be more user-friendly as short-answer fields for phone/tablet users.
Good addition to my toolbox I work a rotating schedule that is a combination of days and night. The guided imagery is a nice tool for helping me to turn my mind off. I think the app works well for helping end users to develop a new skill set when it comes to preparing mind and body for sleep. While the sleep diary is slightly unwieldy, it does a good job of tracking an individual's sleep patterns. Overall I like the app and have recommended it to a couple of my coworkers. Opportunities for improvement might include a way to turn off (or severely dim) the display, or change the background color of the screen when using the relaxation tools. I'm concerned about the effects of the lux on an individual's circadian rhythm and further delaying an individual's sleep phase. I end up using a screen filter for mine to control the light exposure in the bedroom so it doesn't affect my spouse. I thought the sleep 101 section did a nice job of educating individuals about sleep, but thought you may be able to include a sleep apnea screening tool (such as the STOP or STOP-BANG) so that the end user might have a better idea of when to seek help from their primary care provider or a sleep specialist. Thanks again!
Good app however it crashes Often when using the journal function. Everything else seems good. Also takes a long time to enter journal info.
Can't delete entries in sleep diaries. I work nights so I sleep days and the app says it's negative hours when I put in my entries.
I need to share my data with my provider The application is great. I only have one recommendation for improvement regarding exporting the data so my doctor, who recommended I use the app, can have the data collected.
