ListServ is an e-mail list and e-mail delivery solution to manage electronic newsletters, discussion groups, and direct e-mail.  List members are able to control their subscriptions through either the list's web page or email. This page provides general information about the ListServ however, you must use one of the links below to interact with the lists or to manage your subscriptions. 

Click the List Archives link, and the LISTSERV Archives page will display the first 50 lists in alphabetical order. To display additional lists, either click the alphabetical range link located at the top and bottom of the list or change the number of Lists per page to something other than 50 and press the Update button. This feature is located at the bottom of the list.

Create a Password

In order to interact with a list, subscribe, or to manage your subscriptions using the ListServ interface, you must create a password that is associated with your email address.Go to the Login page and click on the "get a new LISTSERV password" link. Enter your email address and your desired password twice. It is highly recommend that your password is at least 8 characters long and contains at least one number or special character (e.g. #, $, &, !, etc.).

Once you have received your confirmation email, you will be able to login by clicking the "Login" link at the top right corner or in the options box.

As an alternative, you can subscribe to a list and you will be given an opportunity to create a password by clicking "logging in with your ListServ password" which will take you through the same process above. A password is not required to subscribe to a list, but is required to manage your subscription(s) through the user interface. You will only be required to create one password regardless of the number of lists to which you subscribe.

How to Subscribe

  • To subscribe to a list, click the list name and a new page will display the list description—if the owner has provided one.
  • Type in your first and last Name.
  • Accurately type your Email Address.
  • Make sure the list to which you want to subscribe is displayed in the Select List field. If not, click the field’s drop-down button ( ) and select the correct list.
  • Select the Subscription Type:
    • “Regular” to receive individual postings immediately as they are processed
      by ListServ.
    • “Digest (traditional)” to receive collections of individual list postings.
      Note: You can change your subscription type at any time.
  • Then click the Subscribe ([listname]-L) button, and at the top of the page you’ll see the message, “A confirmation request is being sent under separate cover.” For security reasons, your subscription will not be complete until you respond to the confirmation request sent to your email address.
  • Check your email Inbox for a message from LISTSERV.VA.GOV entitled, “Command confirmation request ([message ID])”. To complete your subscription, click the link contained in the email, and a new tab in your browser window will open, showing your confirmation.
