Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity project (MTBS)Procedures used to generate burn severity assessments for the MTBS project are essentially the same as those described elsewhere on this website: Pre and Post fire Landsat images are converted to the normalized burn ratio (NBR) and the difference is computed (dNBR). The dNBR is then interpreted into High, Medium and Low burn severity. The essential differences lie in the products.
