What is the VA Office of Technology Strategies (TS)?

Technology Strategies defines the “To Be” enterprise technology vision for the VA Office of Information and Technology (OI&T), and assists business and technical users in achieving this vision. TS is responsible for monitoring and assessing the current technology at VA, including industry trends and practices for how they will impact VA’s IT Vision. This office within OI&T’s Architecture, Strategy & Design (ASD) interacts not only with the ASD pillar offices, but also with multiple stakeholders within OI&T and other federal agencies to capture business rules and provide technical guidance as it relates to Data Sharing across the enterprise, specifically for interagency operability. To maintain a close understanding of business needs and their potential impact to VA, TS also works with partners in industry, academia and various government offices for a thorough analysis of how the VA IT “To-Be” strategy can meet both current and forecasted needs.

What type of work does TS produce?

TS also maintains the One-VA Technical Reference Model (TRM), which is one component within the overall Enterprise Architecture (EA) that establishes a common vocabulary and structure for describing the information technology that is used to develop, operate, and maintain enterprise applications. Please check out the TRM website for more information.
