VSFS
VSFS is the largest virtual internship program in the world. U.S. students contribute about 10 hours a week to their government, doing real work and gaining real experience in the process. VSFS is the smart and transparent way for government and citizens to collaborate on projects. Federal colleagues from across government submitted projects with more than 900 openings for U.S. college students. This amazing array of projects from 30 agencies is now available for students to review. Between July 2-22, U.S. college students can logon to USAJOBS.gov and apply to their top three projects. Agencies make their selections in August, and selected eInterns start in early September. Most projects conclude by the following April.
If you’re a U.S. citizen currently enrolled in a college-level course or program, you’re eligible to be a VSFS eIntern! VSFS eInterns have included those enrolled full or part time, taking classes in-person or online, from undergraduates through PhD candidates. You can even participate if you’re studying abroad.
We’re up to 27. Agencies, that is. The newest federal agency to join is the Department of Labor. Since 2014, VSFS has expanded to include NASA, the General Services Administration (GSA), the Department of the Treasury, the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), FEMA, and many others.
