Dear Colleagues —Just a quick reminder about next week's release of a new report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) that explores strategies for building effective work-based learning systems. Commissioned by the U.S. Department of Education, Work-based learning for youth at risk: Getting employers on board, draws on the OECD’s extensive international research to identify best practices in work-based learning and strategies for overcoming one of the key challenges to scaling—engaging employers. Dr. Andreas Schleicher, who leads the Directorate of Education and Skills at the OECD, will present the report’s key findings, including international comparisons and policy lessons. We will also hear from leaders from the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor, along with a number of policy experts, on the implications of the report’s findings for future policy and practice.
