SFB Board Packet Schedule for School Districts

As of the June 8, 2016 meeting of the School Facilities Board, the following schedule has been established for school districts to get their project paperwork to their SFB Liaison.  If a school district misses a deadline to get on an agenda, their request will need to wait til the next agenda.

Arizona Rubber Flooring Project

The School Facilities Board (SFB) is working to identify schools with urethane rubberized flooring in gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, cafeterias and possibly classrooms. The presence of this flooring material does not automatically present a concern.  However, out of an abundance of caution, the SFB has teamed up with the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to address health and environmental concerns, develop testing protocols, evaluate the data, and implement any necessary remediation measures.

Trust Quality Assurance Program

Formerly the SCIP Quality Assurance Program, the Trust Quality Assurance Program services include review of construction plans for identification of potential issues with grading and drainage; structure and foundation; onsite inspections and written reports by qualified engineers. Click the link below and contact the Trust at 602-266-4911 for more information.

Attention All School Districts:

The Building Renewal Fund statute, A.R.S. §15-2031, was repealed as of September 12, 2013, pursuant to 2013 Ariz. Sess. Laws, 1st Spec. Sess., Ch. 3, § 42 (House Engrossed HB 2003).

School districts are required to spend the monies in the district building renewal fund as authorized by the statute, A.R.S. §15-2031 (H). Once the statute is repealed, the authority to spend monies in the district building renewal fund is also repealed.

School districts should consult with their attorney if they have any questions or concerns.

The SFB is moving swiftly to identify those schools with urethane rubberized flooring.  We surveyed all Arizona school districts and will use information from the survey to identify those schools with urethane rubberized flooring, create a centralized inventory, proceed with a testing plan, and conduct any necessary corrective action.  More information on the Arizona Rubber Flooring Project, please visit the website: https://schoolflooring.az.gov.
