J-1: Manpower and Personnel Directorate

 

Provide personnel actions training, support and evaluation to all soldiers and organizations in the Tennessee National Guard. Participate in contingency planning and mobilization and deployment preparation to provide timely and appropriate military support to meet Federal, State and Community missions. Assess, evaluate and monitor the status of personnel readiness of National Guard units and implement programs and procedures to meet personnel readiness requirements.

 

 

 

 

 

J-2: Deputy Chief of Staff Intelligence

 

The Directorate for Intelligence, J-2, supports the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff and Unified Commands. It is the national level focal point for crisis intelligence support to military operations, indications and warning intelligence in DoD, and Unified Command intelligence requirements. The J-2 coordinates joint intelligence doctrine and architecture, and managed intelligence for joint warfighting assessments. J-2 serves as the Intelligence Community manager for Support to Military operations, and is the Director of the Joint Warfighting Capabilities Assessments for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance under the Joint Requirements Oversight Council.

 

 

 

 

 

J-3: Operations & Training Directorate

 

The J-3 is responsible for assisting the Tennessee Command Group in the direction and control of all Tennessee National Guard Operations. The J-3 conducts this mission through planning, coordinating, information sharing and integrating all aspects of Tennessee National Guard Operations.

 

 

 

 

 

J-4: Logistics Directorate

 

The J-4 serves as the primary advisor to the TNARNG for all logistics matters to include, but not limited to: supply, maintenance, transportation, acquisition logistics, installation/facility and environmental issues. The mission of the J-4 is to participate in joint matters at the strategic level with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, other Defense Agencies and the Combatant Commands in support of the National Security Strategy, the national Homeland Security Strategy, and other Department of Defense (DoD) strategies, guidance, directives, deliberate and crisis action plans and contingency operations.

 

 

 

 

 

J-5/7: Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate

 

The J5 plans, conducts and facilitates strategic planning for the Tennessee National Guard and is responsible for the State Partnership Program as well as providing staff coordination and administration of activities and programs which integrate military and non-military agencies and international programs. The J7 serves as the primary staff directorate for developing and documenting joint training plans, joint training and joint exercises.

 

 

 

 

 

J-6: Command, Control, Communications & Computers Directorate

 

The J-6 will provide high quality, effective and affordable Information Technology Services to the Soldiers, Airmen and civilians of the Tennessee National Guard. Our focus is to ensure commanders can exceed all standards in performing their state and worldwide federal mission.

 

 

 

 

 

J-8: Force Structure, Resources & Assessment

 

Responsible to Tennessee National Guard for resource oversight, guidance, policy, procedures, and assessments.

 

 

 

 

 

J-9: Military and Family Readiness Directorate

 

Provides guidance and implement long-lasting solutions to the needs of our Guard members and families.Some of its many programs include the Chaplain, Family Assistance Centers, youth programs, Family Readiness Council, Yellow Ribbon Events, Transition Assistance Advisors, personal and family counseling, financial counseling, military funeral honors, and the Army Survivor Outreach Services. The bulk of the new Directorate is located at state headquarters in Nashville but with elements across Tennessee.

 

 

 

 

 

Joint Public Affairs & Strategic Communications

 

The Joint Public Affairs Office provides an important link between the Tennessee Military Department and our surrounding community.  The JPAO produces print, web, and video content that keeps us connected to our fellow Tennessee residents.  The Tennessee National Guard Community Relations Division welcomes the opportunity to connect our communities with the mission and capabilities of the Tennessee Army and Air National Guard.   We are pleased to offer the resources for the American public to request flyovers, military bands, color/honor guards, exhibit displays and speakers.  We require at least 30 days notice in order to process all requests.
