Veterans Entrepreneurship Program

 

The Veterans Entrepreneurship Program (VEP) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga offers cutting edge, experiential training in entrepreneurship and small business management to our nations veterans who are disabled as a result of their service. The intent of the VEP is to open the door to entrepreneurial opportunity and small business ownership to veterans, by developing competencies in creating and sustaining an entrepreneurial venture, and providing a support structure for continued success as a business owner.

 

 UTC is partnering with Oklahoma State’s School of Entrepreneurship in the delivery and development of this highly successful program. The VEP consists of a series of training modules designed by UTC and OSU faculty and successful entrepreneurs who will work with participating veterans to provide an interactive and informative experience. They will introduce entrepreneurship ideas and concepts, and show how to apply them to your current or potential business.

Servicemembers from any branch of service who entered the military in the State of Tennessee can request a DD 214 by calling War Records at (615) 313-2664 or (615) 313-2666.

 

 

Servicemembers who entered service from anywhere outside of the State of Tennessee can request a DD 214 through the National Archive's National Personnel Records Center at http://archives.gov/veterans/index.html.

Veterans Retraining Assistance Program

 

VA has begun a pilot email campaign to raise awareness about the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). This program is jointly administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Labor (DOL). http://gibill.va.gov/benefits/other_programs/vrap_email_signup.html. An individual will be prompted to provide us his or her first name, last name, and email address. Once submitted that person can expect to receive six to seven emails about VRAP, including notification on when applications open.

 

VRAP offers 12 months of training assistance to 99,000 unemployed Veterans who are at least 35 years old but no older than 60. Eligible participants will receive up to 12 months of training assistance at the full-time payment rate under the Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty program (currently $1,473 per month). Hope Now

 

Hope Now provides help for those who might be in trouble with their mortgage lenders. HOPE NOW is an alliance between counselors, mortgage companies, investors, and other mortgage market participants. Transition Assistance

 

Who we are: The purpose of the Transition Assistance Advisor (TAA) program is to provide a professional in each state/territory to serve as the statewide point of contact to assist servicemembers in accessing Veterans Affairs benefits and healthcare services. Each TAA also provides assistance in obtaining entitlements through the TRICARE Military Health System and access to community resources. The TAA initiative started in May 2005 when the National Guard Bureau signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The TAA program is staffed by 60 contract positions and two federal technicians.

 

Who we serve: The program is designed to serve National Guard members and their families.

Additionally, we gladly provide services to members in all components.

 

What we can do for you: We help you navigate through the vast myriad of benefits and entitlements in the DoD and VA system. We take the time to assist you and not toss you into the "800-number desert"! We will educate you so you will understand the benefits you have earned.
