Northern Gulf of Mexico - Land Cover Characterization Workshop

November 14-16, 2007

University of New Orleans, Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Sciences,(PIES) Room 438
20450 Lakeshore Dr., New Orleans, LA 70148 (Campus Map)

Workshop Objectives

Workshop attendees take tour of Louisiana wetlands on seaplane.n

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  1. educate attendees on regional efforts that involve land cover characterization, including land cover mapping, wetland loss studies, and landscape modeling,
  2. enhance collaboration on land cover characterization research for the Northern Gulf of Mexico (NGOM) project, and
  3. define a coordinated FY08 project plan for all land cover mapping and modeling subtasks. This workshop is an excellent opportunity to learn about current and future efforts in landscape and land cover characterization with a regional perspective.
