This Veterans Day, the Tennessee Treasury Division of Unclaimed Property Wants to Return Military Medals to Owners

NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Treasury Department safeguards unclaimed property for Tennesseans, and the Division of Unclaimed Property works every day to return that property to its rightful owners. In Tennessee, unclaimed property is usually money. However, if a military medal is found in an abandoned safe deposit box, the medal is turned over to the State Treasurer for safekeeping. ...more

Tennessee Among the First States to Offer ABLE Accounts for Individuals with Disabilities

Lillard, Jr. announced the opening of ABLE TN, Tennessee’s own Achieving A Better Life Experience program, a new program to help those with disabilities plan and save for the future. Treasurer LillardWelcome to the State of Tennessee's Treasury Department home page. The Treasury Department is one of three legislative agencies within State government. Its major functions include:

  • Receiving and disbursing public funds.
  • Managing all State investments, including the pension fund.
  • Administering three major employee benefit programs, including the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, the Deferred Compensation Program, and the Flexible Benefits Plan.
  • Operating the Unclaimed Property, College Savings (Section 529 Plans), and Small and Minority-Owned Business programs.
  • Overseeing the risk management program and handling and adjudicating all claims made against the State.
