Biography

The Building Energy Regulatory Analysis Group (BERA) is part of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Energy and Environment Directorate. Our group focuses on building energy research and analysis in a regulatory environment, with staff having backgrounds in engineering, economics, policy, applied building science, regulatory writing, and whole-building energy simulation. These core capabilities are applied to support the development of building energy codes, energy efficiency standards, and appliance and equipment test procedures.

BERA Mission:

To improve the energy efficiency in buildings by providing key analyses and tools that promote building equipment and systems that are technologically feasible, economically justifiable, and save energy.

BERA Vision:

PNNL will be the leading laboratory and national resource for building energy codes and appliance standards research and analysis.
