NRCS is requesting proposals for the FY2017 Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program. CIG is designed to stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) February 28, 2017.
Bobwhites depend on early successional habitat grasslands, shrubby areas, and pine or oak savannahs found across the East. These habitats have the forbs, legumes and insects that bobwhite need for food and the heavy or brushy cover for nesting, brooding and safety.
Known for its exceptional mussel, snail, crayfish and fish biodiversity, this project has brought a blend of public and private partners to the table to assist working lands support endangered or threatened species recovery.
All the practices allowed me to improve wildlife habitat, soil, air, and water quality on my farm. I really have found nothing that I dislike about the program.
The Chief of the Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe, Chief McCormick believes this project will help her Tribe and the local community with healthy food.
