Energy and Environment Cabinet

Redbuds

Welcome

We have moved! The Energy and Environment Cabinet has moved most of its employees into a new, five-story building located at 300 Sower Boulevard in Frankfort. We have updated these web pages with the new addresses and phone numbers of employees.

The department, through its divisions and partnerships, provides technical assistance, education and funding to help landowners, institutions, industries, and communities in conserving and sustaining Kentucky's natural resources.  In addition, the department inspects timber harvests and mining operations to ensure the protection of our citizens, our environment and our workers.

DNR has posted water quality data taken from in-stream sampling sites throughout the Kentucky coalfields.  That data represents analyses of water samples taken quarterly from July 2011 through June 2012.  Samples were taken from 53 sites in the eastern coalfield and 11 sites in the western coalfield during the time period.

The project was funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining, in the amount of $200,000.  Follow the link to Watershed Trend Station Data.
