Chairman Guitierez, Guest of Honor, attends Veteran’s Day Ceremony in Big valley

On Thursday, November 10, 2016, the chairman was invited to speak to a large crowd of adults and school students assembled at the school gym.  His unique experience as a veteran, Native American, and Tribal Chairman held a standing room only audience captive for nearly 30 minutes. His opening topic included an invocation in his native Paiute language.  His passion for the vets that are struggling to survive high suicide rates and failure to assimilate back into society is overwhelming.   The crowd applauded when he explained to them that Native Americans have the highest rate of service per capita of all peoples in this country, despite many of the social issues affecting the tribes.  The chairman received a standing ovation before taking questions from the students and other veterans.  This was a ceremony these attendees will long remember.
