I have service connections disabilities, I'm at 50% with the VA and rising, but I was denied by them. Once again, the Honor, Courage, and Commitment that the Na...vy tells us to stand for, doesn't count for us all. I honestly believe I was denied, because I'm not near a Navy base any longer! Shame, shame, shame!!!! See More

VADM Dixon Smith: "Please take a moment to remember our veterans and wounded warriors for the sacrifices they have made on behalf of our nation, today and every day. They are an inspiration to us all." Learn more about the Warrior Games to be held in Chicago June 30-July 8, 2017.

  • Been a while coming, but ever so happy to announce that The BART Fou...ndation is officially in business working on behalf of survivors, caregivers, and professionals in the brain injury communities. (Brain Alternative Rehabilitation Therapies Foundation, Inc. – a 501(c)(3) educational charity). Our mission is to promote better outcomes for survivors by answering three questions – which alternative therapies are likely to work, where can they be found, and how can they be afforded? As an educational foundation serving the ABI communities, we seek 1- To identify safe and relatively effective alternative therapies. 2- To compile guides of locations where survivors may obtain therapies. There is an urgent unmet need for guides to local, reliable services. Often facilities, especially hospitals, will not treat ABI survivors in their HBOT facilities – since HBOT is off-label for ABI. Likewise for other safe alternatives. 3- To advocate for and, if possible, negotiate reduced prices and partial scholarships. Some models include– The Patriot Clinic movement and the TreatNow.org groups which facilitate free services to veterans. Also, Barlean’s Oils has a program offering cancer survivors a steep discount on their fish and other oils. We will explore such approaches on behalf of ABI survivors. No other foundation or organization undertakes our impartial educational mission. Many organizations advocate for one or another alternative therapy, acting in effect as trade groups, or setting standards for practitioners. BART is unique in taking an agnostic approach regarding which therapies are safe and effective. We have no financial or vested interest in any therapies or practitioners. Please take a look at our website: www.thebartfoundation.org While in early stages of development, it already has one outstanding feature: The “Resource Tab” presents an accessible, easy way to locate practitioners of several safe alternative therapies. There is a crying need for a straightforward way to locate qualified practitioners in local communities, and the BART foundation has consulted thought leaders in each field to put together the most comprehensive, robust and useful resource of its kind. Enjoy the site! Please share it with others who may be interested. If the spirit moves you, consider donating to help our mission. The Foundation’s overhead is minuscule, so even small donations will go almost entirely to support research and education. Donations are tax deductible, and you will receive an acknowledgement letter for IRS purposes. Wishing you a peaceful, joyous holiday season. Bart, Cassidy, Dayle and I are blessed to still have useful work to do for our sisters and brothers in Brain Injury. Your love and support are a boon to us always.
