IN WASHINGTON STATE

Mumps is a contagious disease spreading now in Washington State. Health officials urge immunization. There are currently 147 confirmed cases of mumps in the state of Washington, including cases in Spokane and Yakima Counties. With people traveling over the holidays, health officials are reminding everyone to take precautions to help stop the spread of the illness. Vaccines are available at Benton-Franklin Health District, healthcare providers and pharmacies. Everyone should practice good handwashing, cover their cough and stay home when they are sick to prevent mumps and other illnesses from spreading.
