Disaster Unemployment Assistance Filing Deadline Ending for Remaining Eligible Counties in North Carolina
RALEIGH — Filing for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) is about to expire in 10 counties. The deadline for filing an initial DUA claim is 30 days from the date DES announced DUA availability in each county.

Important Information for Claimants Affected by Hurricane Matthew Individuals whose employment was lost or disrupted due to the disaster and received regular Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits or Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) MUST stop filing for benefits if they have returned to work. Unemployment Benefits are paid only when you are out of work. If you return to work and do not report your wages earned for each week, you will have to repay those benefits to Employment Security.
