CERES - Clouds and Earth's Radiant Energy System
The CERES instrument is a three-channel radiometer whose products include both solar-reflected and Earth-emitted radiation from the top of the atmosphere to the Earth's surface. Cloud properties are determined using simultaneous measurements by other EOS and NPP instruments such as the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometric Suite (VIIRS). Analyses using CERES data, build upon the foundation laid by previous missions such as NASA Langley's Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE), leading to a better understanding of the role of clouds and the energy cycle in global climate change.

CERES FM6 Delivered to JPSS
The CERES FM6 instrument, developed under contract between LaRC and Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems for flight onboard the Joint Polar Satellite System -1 mission (JPSS-1), was delivered to the JPSS-1 spacecraft integration facility at Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. (BATC), Boulder, Colorado, on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
