+Pamela Morgan America is not a country, and every country in America has their own flag and capitol. People in our country, the United States =OF= America, are just so impressed by fallacious ignorance and stupidity, that even though the truth is right before their eyes, they actually think that our USA is America itself! How arrogant!

AMERICA is almost 300 years older than is our United States =OF= America. America is a VERTICAL HEMISPHERE comprising TWO continents plus central America plus the Bahama Islands and the Caribbean Islands. The improper term ‘North America’ was begun by our northern English colonies, because when people at the time said they were sailing to America, they meant to the Caribbean Islands and central and southern America, not to the lightly-populated northern American colonies. It is actually incorrect to say ‘North America’ or ‘South America’ or ‘the Americas’ as geo-political entities. -- Libris Fidelis August 9, 2014” (modified from earlier versions by Ronald Kinum going back to year 2000)

“America is a vertical hemisphere that was named after the cartographer/navigator (map-maker) who created the FIRST ACCURATE map of this hemisphere for ships to follow. In using Vespucci’s maps, in 1507 Martin Waldseemüller produced a world map, on which he named the new hemisphere America, so naming this hemisphere ‘America’ after Waldseemüller correctly feminized Vespucci's first name into a new Latin version, which was translated as Americus from Amerigo. And this vertical hemisphere has been known as America ever since.

Independent countries in America virtually did not exist until our United States of America was created, although many populations tried to form nations. But, most political areas were realms claimed and owned by monarchies, and some of the major islands were owned by royally-chartered commercial entities such as plantations and trading companies.

Our colonies, after they revolted to form an actual country of its own, were thus named United States of America, because each of the fourteen colonies (one of the colonies was chartered as a city) that became our United States of America were actually created as ASSOCIATED countries or nations within a united confederation. But with the Federal Movement that George Washington favored, due to the inadequacy of the confederation, created a movement to end the separate nationalities of the then thirteen states, to make ONE STATE out of the former confederacy, becoming the singular United States OF America, which as one Federal unit was actually improperly named, because the original thirteen states no longer were states at all, not with the singular uniting power of our US Constitution under Federalism! And this was the cause of the US Civil War, because the southern "states" later wanted to return to a confederation of independent smaller states, so they could conduct their individual slave-based economies that the US Constitution prohibited and that the northerners detested as being unfair to their commerce due to the forced labor that was enslaved.” -- Libris Fidelis, June 11, 2015, modified May 4, 2016
ADDENDUM: “Actually, initial slavery in the northern American colonies was begun with caucasian slaves in Virginia, who were slaves of Irish descent and who were NOT indentured servants at all; they were actual slaves! Then shortly later from 1640 to the 1650s, the first ‘black’ Africans were added to slavery, because there were not enough Irish people to continue enslavement on the plantations, in the coal mines, and in the factories. But during the 1600s, the caucasian slaves actually out-numbered the ‘black’ African slaves in northern America!” -- Libris Fidelis, August 16, 2015, modified May 4, 2016

Extracting H2 from seawater is no problem. H2 was the waste product we dumped overboard from the O2 generators on the nuclear submarines I served on from 68 to 88. The hot technology in the Navy today is extracting jet fuel directly from seawater. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/09/120924111824.htm

The scuba photo brings back memories of the two years (73 - 74) I was homeported at Guam on USS Proteus (AS-19). Guam was my most enjoyable homeport during my 20 years in the Submarine Force.
