Rep. Culberson's Statement on the Passing of Captain Gene Cernan

“Captain Gene Cernan devoted his life to making the American space program the best on Earth. He loved exploring the unknown, and he knew Americans are at their best when we are conquering new frontiers. Texas’ Congressional District 7 was very fortunate to have the benefit of his leadership for many years on our Military Academy nominations board. Texas, our nation, America’s space program and the scope of human knowledge are all stronger because of Gene Cernan. All of us who knew and loved him are very fortunate to have spent time with a true American hero. We will all miss him very much. God Speed Gene Cernan.”
