Informing Policy Makers

Aura data advance the understanding of changes in the Earth's radiation balance, air quality, and the ozone layer that result from changes in atmospheric composition. These objectives, by definition, have strong relevance for national interests (i.e., operational uses by federal agencies), applied sciences, scientific research, and societal benefit.

science feature
Detection of missing sulfur dioxide sources

A new emission-source detection algorithm was applied to the measurements of sulfur dioxide from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument.

science feature
Low ozone over Europe doesn't mean the sky is falling, it's actually rising

We must be able to distinguish between low ozone caused by ozone depleting substances and that caused by natural dynamical variability in the atmosphere.
