...River Statement For The Black Warrior River and Mulberry Fork...
.Elevated water levels continue along the mentioned river basins;
however, stages are expected to remain below flood stage. Any
overflow should be minor in nature.
The Black Warrior River at Oliver Lock and Dam.
* At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 126.8 feet.
* Action stage is 122.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 129.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 127.8 feet
just after midnight tonight.
* Impact...At 129.0 feet...Flooding of agricultural lands in areas
southwest of Tuscaloosa occurs.
The Mulberry Fork at Cordova.
* At 8:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 19.0 feet.
* Action stage is 18.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 14.3 feet Tuesday
evening.
* Impact...At 18.0 feet...Caution Stage. Low lying banks in areas
downstream of Cordova begin to overflow...including the Barney
Beach...Copeland Ferry and Underwood Ferry areas. Docks also
begin to be impacted in these areas.
Another statement will be issued by Friday evening, or sooner if
conditions warrant.
Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for
later statements concerning this event.
It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours. If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
