Coleman National Fish Hatchery
California and Nevada Region

Welcome to the Coleman National Fish Hatchery

Located in Northern California, the Coleman National Fish Hatchery (CNFH) is located along the Battle Creek tributary of the Sacramento River. We are responsible for the production of various species of fish, and our annual production goals totals over 13 million.

Return of Salmon Festival

Due to inclement weather the Return of the Salmon Festival on Saturday October 15th, 2016 will be cancelled. Even though the Salmon Festival is cancelled the hatchery will still be open to the public on Saturday October 15th from 8:00 AM to 4:00PM and the hatchery staff will be spawning fall Chinook salmon on that day.

Primary Species

The primary species we produce are Chinook salmon and Steelhead, which migrate out to and back from the Pacific Ocean via the Sacramento River.

Recreation and Education

The hatchery is open for self guided tours daily from 7:30 a.m. to dusk. Please visit our Hatchery Happenings page for more information on the recreation, education and events that are happening at the Coleman National Fish Hatchery.
