Order Adopting Standard Conditions of Supervision - Wednesday, December 14, 2016
The Court has issued General Order 2016-1, adopting standard conditions for Probation and Supervised Release. Effective January 1, 2017, these conditions will be considered in conjunction with imposition of sentences in criminal cases. The full text of GO 2016-1 may be found HERE

Notice - Email Phishing Attack Continues to Target Lawyers - Tuesday, December 06, 2016

The U.S. District Court has been notified by the Colo. Supreme Court's Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel that it has become aware of an email phishing scam that has reemerged in several states, including Colorado. Emails are being sent to lawyers purporting to notify them of disciplinary action.

U.S. DISTRICT COURT LOCAL RULES REVISIONS EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 1, 2016 - Thursday, November 10, 2016

The United States District Court for the District of Colorado reviewed and approved revisions to its Local Rules which become effective December 1, 2016. The Advisory Committee on the Local Rules of Practice and Procedure has completed its comprehensive review of the local rules. In the 2016 rules cycle the Committee focused on the conversion of the pilot program of local patent rules into new rules, issued an assortment of new administrative provisions that will contribute to more efficient case administration, and made several amendments to attorney practice rules.

Proposed Amendments To Local Rules And Invitation To Comment - Monday, September 26, 2016

The United States District Court for the District of Colorado announces proposed amendments to its Local Rules and invites public comment under 28 U.S.C. § 2071(b), Fed. R. Civ. P. 83(a), and Fed. R. Crim. P. 57(a). The proposed amendments can be found by visiting the link HERE.

CM/ECF Training for e-filing in civil/criminal cases - February 8, 2017 from 9am to 11am in Room A142 on the 1st Floor of the Alfred A. Arraj U.S. Courthouse in Denver.

The training program provides attorneys and their staff with the knowledge necessary to use the electronic filing system. The presentation is oriented towards civil filings but there will be discussion on filing in criminal cases as well. Topics include:

  • How to prepare documents for electronic filing
  • How to file electronically to ECF
  • How to retrieve electronically filed documents
  • How to change your noticing options
  • What to do if you have difficulties filing electronically
  • Overview of ECF procedures including document retention, service, electronic signatures, and system requirements

Attorney Case Opening Training (for civil cases) - January 25, 2016 from 9am to 11am in Room A142 on the 1st Floor of the Alfred A. Arraj U.S. Courthouse in Denver.

The training program provides attorneys and their staff the knowledge necessary to open a new civil case in the Court's electronic filing system. Topics include:

  • Overview of useful documents (i.e. ECF Procedures, ECF User Manual, and Attorney Case Opening Manual)
  • Opening the case in ECF
  • Adding Civil Cover sheet information
  • Searching for and adding parties
  • Filing the initiating document (i.e. complaint, notice of removal, etc.)
  • Paying the filing fee via Pay.gov
