The District covers the State of Oregon, with courthouses in Portland, Eugene, Medford, and Pendleton. The Court handles an average annual civil caseload of 2,400 pending civil cases, and a criminal caseload involving an average of 1,100 defendants per year. In addition, the Court is home to Reentry Court programs in Eugene, Medford, and Portland.
We believe that there are many routes to justice, and our goal is to map them all. Whether we are trying cases, facilitating alternative resolutions to disputes, or collaborating with federal, state and local government services to craft a comprehensive solution to a District-wide problem, our role as a Court is to provide equal and consistent access to justice.

Warning: Scams on the Rise
Scammers impersonating courts for the purpose of stealing personal information are becoming increasingly prevalent. The Court wants the public to know that it will never ask for your Social Security number or other personal information over the phone or by e-mail. Nor will the Court ever send to you an unsolicited e-mail or e-mail attachment. Do not open any unexpected or unsolicited e-mail attachments because they likely contain malicious code designed to transmit personal information back to the scammer. If you are unsure about the validity of a communication purporting to be from the Court, please contact us. Contact local law enforcement if you have been the victim of a scam. PUBLIC NOTICE: Reappointment of a Part-time United States Magistrate Judge in Pendleton, Oregon +
On September 28, 2017, the current term of office of U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Sullivan will expire. The United States District Court for the District of Oregon is required by law to establish a panel of citizens to consider the reappointment of Magistrate Judge Sullivan to a new four-year term.
The duties of a magistrate judge in this Court include the following: (1) conducting most preliminary proceedings in criminal cases; (2) trial and disposition of misdemeanor cases; (3) conducting various pretrial matters and evidentiary proceedings in civil cases; and (4) trial and disposition of civil cases upon consent of the litigants.
Comments from members of the bar and public are invited as to whether United States Magistrate Judge Sullivan should be recommended by the panel for reappointment by the Court. Comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on January 31, 2017, and should be addressed to: Office of the Clerk, Human Resources Division, U.S. District Court, District of Oregon, 1000 S.W. Notice to Customers Presenting Checks

When you provide a check as payment, you authorize the Court either to use information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction. For inquiries, please call the Clerk's Office at 503-326-8000.
Privacy Act – A Privacy Act Statement required by 5 U.S.C. § 552a(e)(3), that states our authority for soliciting and collecting the information from your check and explaining the purposes and routine uses which will be made of your check information, is available from the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, U.S. Department of the Treasury at www.fms.treas.gov/otcnet or may be obtained though the mail by calling 1-866-945-7920 (toll free). Furnishing the check information is voluntary, but a decision not to do so will require you to make payment by some other method.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Oregon handles all bankruptcy matters. The Bankruptcy Court's website has directions to its courthouses and information for individuals, companies and attorneys.
The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services System carries out probation and pretrial services functions in the U.S. District courts. Through its officers and other employees, the system works to make the criminal justice process effective and the public safe.
Federal Public Defenders ensure that the right to counsel is enforced on behalf of those who cannot afford such services. More information about the Federal Public Defender can be found on the office's website.
United States Attorneys conduct most of the trial work in which the United States is a party. More information on the U.S. Attorney's Office can be found on their website.
