HUD in Plain Language

Because we want our programs and services to be accessible to those who need them, HUD is committed to communicating clearly and concisely. We believe strongly in plain language—and not just because the Plain Writing Act of 2010 compels us. We promise to do everything we can to keep the content on this site (along with content you may receive from us through other channels), as easy to understand as possible. We do this by training our team on what plain writing is, building plain writing compliance into our business model, furthering our plain writing implementation plan, and perhaps most importantly, hearing from you when you think something we’ve written could use some improvement.

So please, let us know how we’re doing. If you have any trouble understanding a form, notice, pamphlet, or webpage, let us know at help@hud.gov and we’ll get to improving it right away.

HUD’s plain writing efforts are led by Henry Hensley, Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Management (OSPM).
