Streamflow Measurements to Identify Gaining and Losing Stream Reaches, 2006

During seepage investigations discharge measurements are made at several locations along a stream or ditch. These measurements are used to identify where loosing and gaining reaches are located and to determine how diversion and return-flow practices affect stream and ditch flow. Seepage investigations are made during periods of low flow when conditions at any given location in the stream or ditch are relatively constant to minimize the effects that any variability with time might introduce.
