This iron and aluminum alloy's unique striated structure was created when the liquid metal was poured into a water-cooled copper mold. The production of this master alloy is the first step in developing advanced materials for new energy technologies, sponsored by Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E)
