VICTIM RESOURCES
Victims of crime are often confused, scared, and in need of assistance. We want to help victims know about the broad range and multiple services available that will assist victims with counseling, crisis intervention, emergency shelter, criminal justice advocacy, compensation and protection. Visit the Office of Victims of Crime Services database to find the types of services that are available. Victim Advocacy Victim Compensation Deadlines for filing state compensation applications are strict and sometimes short. Failure to file within specified time limits may disqualify a victim for compensation. If the deadline is not met, the state compensation board may allow a victim to apply if they can show good cause why the deadline was not met. If the board denies compensation, a victim may be able to appeal, but should seek the assistance of an attorney. To locate a state compensation program, visit State Compensation Program.
