ONRR serves as the custodian of multiple datasets that support our mission to collect, disburse, and verify Federal and Indian energy and other natural resource revenues on behalf of all Americans. As stewards of the substantial revenues generated from natural resource development on Federal and Indian lands, ONRR is committed to transparency, accountability, and improving public access to data and information.
The following ONRR datasets are available through this Statistical Information Site:
Disbursement Data
– Derived from ONRR’s payment of collected mineral lease revenues made to American Indian Tribes and individual Indian mineral owners; States and political subdivisions (e.g. counties, parishes, boroughs); other Federal agencies; various special purpose funds, such as the Land and Water Conservation, Historic Preservation, and Reclamation Funds; and the U.S. Treasury General Fund. ONRR disburses funds in accordance with numerous laws that specify the basis for and timing of payments. You can query the data at a fund or state level and by fiscal year.
Reported Revenue Data
– Derived from monthly revenue reports that payors (i.e. companies) submit to ONRR to explain their revenue payments. The reported revenue data include sales volumes, sales values, and revenues by commodity. You can query the data by land category (Federal Offshore, Federal Onshore, and American Indian), geographic area (State or Offshore Region) and fiscal year.
Production Data
- Derived from reported volumes produced and/or injected for each well on a lease or agreement. The availability of Federal production data replaces ONRR’s annual update and publication of sales year reported revenue data. On the Federal Production page of the Data Portal you can query the Federal production data by commodity, geographic area, and calendar year. In the near future, ONRR will make additional production data available on this site and at useiti.doi.gov.
