The Legislative library is located in Room 27 of the Capitol Annex. Legislative library holdings and services support the research activities and ongoing committee work of LRC staff, and many library services are available to the public.

Hours & Staff

The Legislative library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. When the General Assembly is in session, library services are available each day up to 30 minutes following adjournment of both chambers. Library staff include Leslie Smith, John McKee, and Tonya Capito.

  • Legislative Newspapers:
    • Interim Legislative Record - 1974 to date.
    • Final Legislative, Final Executive, and Final Action Legislative Record issues from 1950.
  • Statutes and Regulations:
    • KY Revised Statutes (KRS) - current set.
    • KY Administrative Regulations (KAR) Service - current set. (Administrative Register of KY also available).
  • Legislation:
    • KY Acts - 1820 to date.
    • House Journals - 1944 to date.
    • Senate Journals - 1944 to date.
    • Copies of Bills - kept for 14 years then moved to storage.
  • Other reference materials:
    • Committee Minutes & Folders - last 4 years, then stored at State Archives.
    • Committee Meeting Tapes (Audio) - Interim Meeting Tapes kept 8 years, then destroyed; Session Meeting Tapes kept 4 years, then stored at State Archives.
    • Video Tapes of General Assembly Sessions - 1992 to date.
    • General reference materials.

Circulation

  • Users may borrow non-reference materials for 4 weeks.
