IPPS-A has launched several new communications products this week in conjunction with the D-360 launch in Pennsylvania!
Over the past 15 years, the Army has focused on winning against enemies in Iraq and Afghanistan with limited modernization efforts to address future threats. Potential adversaries have increased their capabilities and the global security environment has grown more complex. The current Army Operating Concept (AOC): Win in a Complex World, describes the future operational environment as “not only unknown, but unknowable and constantly changing,” and states “the Army cannot predict who it will fight, where it will fight and with what coalition it will fight.” This growing complexity requires the Army to adapt to ensure readiness and reduce risk to our Soldiers and missions. The Human Resources (HR) community must gain better permeability and visibility of Army talent and must improve our ability to match specific skills to emerging mission sets. This requires a shift from an industrial era personnel management system to a 21st century Talent Management system that provides visibility of the Total Force, better manages talent and meets all mandated auditability requirements.
The Integrated Personnel and Pay System – Army (IPPS-A) kicked off the first Risk Reduction Event (RRE) for Increment II Release Two for the Pennsylvania Army National Guard (PAARNG) at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. on December 15, 2016.
The January-February 2017 issue of Army Sustainment magazine has an interview with LTG James McConville that addresses all the benefits about the new talent management program, which is a top G-1 priority. Within the interview, LTG McConville mentioned IPPS-A, emphasizing how it will apply to the Total Force: “We will have a new integrated personnel and pay system. For the first time in the history of the Army, we will have active, Reserve, and National Guard Soldiers in one personnel system. This gives us visibility over the entire force.”
