California Interagency Fuels Mapping Group

Land management and fire control agencies in California continue to search for effective means of cooperating across institutional boundaries to deal with the public safety and ecological integrity issues posed by wildland fire in California. Early collaborations such as FIRESCOPE, which focussed on coordinated fire suppression, created a cooperative culture which now allows the agencies to work together on fire behavior and fuels, characteristics driven largely by land management decisions. This project has and will 1) conduct interagency discussions to specify collaborative fire and fuels data capture and publication projects, and 2) implement those projects by combining resources from participating agencies.
