LITIGATION – DeWitt v. California Citizens Redistricting Commission
The California Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) has been named as a defendant in Case No. 3:15-cv-05261. On May 31, 2016 the Court granted Defendant’s motion to dismiss. The Plaintiff in this case filed a Notice of Appeal on June 29th, 2016. Documents from the case are posted on this website as they become available.

RECENT EVENTS – Supreme Court Oral Arguments – 3/2/2015
The California Citizens Redistricting Commission (CRC) filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court Of The United States (SCOTUS) in the matter of Arizona State Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, on January 23, 2015. On March 2nd, SCOTUS heard oral arguments in the case. A decision will be delivered by the Court on or before June 30, 2015.

A ruling against the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission would negatively impact California’s Prop 20, the measure passed by voters in 2010 that mandated California’s Congressional Districts be drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission in a non-partisan, open, and transparent process.
