OVC is a part of the United States Department of Justice. It administers the national Crime Victims Fund.

International Terrorism Victim Expense Reimbursement Program (ITVERP)
ITVERP offers financial support to victims of international terrorism.

California Coalition Against Sexual Assault
CALCASA is a statewide coalition of nonprofits and others working together to end sexual violence.

VictimConnect Resource Center
VictimConnect provides live anonymous referrals and support for victims of crime, their friends, and families through the National Center for Victims of Crime. VictimConnect is free and is generally available from 2pm to 6pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.

BACA works with state and local officials to help protect and support victims of child abuse.

Crisis Counseling

Disaster Distress Helpline
This toll-free, multilingual, crisis support service is available 24/7 via telephone (1-800-985-5990) and SMS (text 'TalkWithUs' to 66746) to residents in the U.S. and its territories who are experiencing emotional distress related to natural or man-made disasters.

Drunk Driving Victims

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) California
MADD offers direct, supportive services to victims/survivors of drunk driving crashes through MADD's trained victim advocates. A victim advocate can assist with emotional support, guidance through the justice system, and information and referrals for other needs related to the crash experience.

Domestic Violence Victims

Face to Face
The Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers consultation and surgery, pro-bono, to eligible individuals who have received facial injuries through domestic violence.

Give Back a Smile
The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation's (AACDCF) Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program heals some of the most devastating effects of intimate partner violence, by restoring the smiles of adult women and men who have suffered damage to, or lost, their smiles at the hands of a former intimate partner or spouse.

National Domestic Violence Hotline
The National Domestic Violence Hotline creates access by providing 24-hour support through advocacy, safety planning, resources and hope to everyone affected by domestic violence. Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233).

National Dating Abuse Helpline
The National Dating Abuse Helpline and loveisrespect.org are designed to engage, educate and empower youth and young adults to prevent and end abusive relationships. Call 1-800-331-9474.

Human Trafficking Victims

Senate Bill 1193: Information for Victims of Human Trafficking
Sample notices with human trafficking hotlines are legally required to be posted in certain places where trafficking victims are likely to see them. The notices provide critical information on where to get help and tell the public how to report suspected human trafficking. View and print in English and Spanish (En Espanol)

Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST)
The mission of the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) is to assist persons trafficked for the purpose of forced labor and slavery-like practices and to work toward ending all instances of such human rights violations.

Motivating, Inspiring, Supporting and Serving Sexually Exploited Youth (MISSSEY)
MISSEY provides direct services to commercially sexually exploited children and young women, which includes case management, resource services, and our Safe Place Alternative drop-in recovery center. They also provide exploited children with client advocacy, case management, and additional recovery and transition services.

New Day for Children
The programs provide safe and secure living environments for children from California and other referring states 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, until they are healthy and prepared to live again with their families or guardians or until attaining adulthood.

Standing Against Global Exploitation (SAGE)
The SAGE Project supports survivors of trauma and exploitation through a comprehensive array of services including case management, individual therapy, group counseling, educational support, alternative healing and health education, referral to legal and housing services, and advocacy. Staff members, most of whom are survivors, are expertly trained in trauma-focused care.

Income Loss

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
Social Security pays benefits to people who cannot work because they have a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death. Federal law requires this very strict definition of disability. While some programs give money to people with partial disability or short-term disability, Social Security does not.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources. SSI benefits also are payable to people 65 and older without disabilities who meet the financial limits.

Legal Services

Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC)
Legal Services of Northern California provides legal services to the poor in 23 counties in Northern California with nine office locations located in Sacramento, Auburn, Chico, Eureka, Grass Valley, Redding, Ukiah, Vallejo and Woodland.

Medical Services

Medi-Cal
Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program. This is a public health insurance program which provides needed health care services for low-income individuals including families with children, seniors, persons with disabilities, foster care, pregnant women, and low income people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis, breast cancer or HIV/AIDS.

Medicare
Medicare is a social insurance program administered by the United States government, providing health insurance coverage to people who are aged 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria.

The California Department of Health Care Services maintains a list of county Medi-Cal offices on their website. The Medi-Cal and MHSA programs' services are directly provided at the local level by counties and their contract providers.

Mental Health

WellSpace Health
WellSpace Health operates the area's only 24 hour Suicide Crisis Line as well as a 24 hour Parent Support Line and provides health care in various community health centers, inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment, mental health counseling, and pregnancy and midwife services.

Find a Therapist
CounselingCalifornia.com provides a searchable directory of licensed therapists, most of whom are members of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

List of County Mental Health Departments
The California Department of Health Care Services' Mental Health Services Division maintains a list of county mental health departments on their website. The Medi-Cal and MHSA programs' services are directly provided at the local level by counties and their contract providers.

United Advocates for Children and Family
United Advocates for Children and Families (UACF) is a non-profit organization with a mission to improve the quality of life for all children and youth with mental, emotional, and behavioral challenges and to eliminate institutional discrimination and social stigma.

Offender Tracking & Victim Notification Services

CDCR Office of Victim & Survivor Rights & Services
The victim of crime, family member of a victim, or a witness who testified against the offender may request to be notified of the release, death, or escape of their offender(s).

California State Victim Notification Service (VINE)
The California State Victim Notification service (VINE) helps victims of crime obtain information about the custody status of their offender and is provided by the local sheriff in the counties listed above and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). VINE is a free service that is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. VINE is available in English and Spanish and all registrations are confidential.

Relocation Services

Continuum of Care Coordinators
Most counties throughout the State of California have a Continuum of Care Coordinator who coordinates the homeless assistance providers that are receiving funding from the United States Department and Housing and Urban Development. For more information about homeless assistance providers in your area, contact the Continuum of Care Coordinator from your county.

Federal Housing Choice Vouchers Program
The Housing Choice Vouchers Program is the federal government's program for assisting very low-income participants with housing. The California Victim Compensation Board can reimburse a crime victim for expenses related to a deposit for voucher housing.

Lifeline
Lifeline is a government benefit program that provides discounts on monthly telephone service for eligible low-income consumers to help ensure they can connect to the nation's communications networks, find jobs, access health care services, connect with family and their children's schools, and call for help in an emergency. Several California companies participate in the Lifeline program.

Safe at Home
The Safe at Home program, which provides a free post office box and mail forwarding service, is designed to help victims and survivors of domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault to start new lives in peace and to provide added protections to their overall safety plans.

Sexual Assault Victims

National Sexual Assault Hotline
RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, a nationwide partnership of more than 1,100 local rape treatment hotlines that provides victims of sexual assault with free, confidential services around the clock. Call 1-800-656-HOPE (4673).
