Congress passed the most current transportation bill, the Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), in 2012. Dedicated funding for the federal SRTS program was eliminated under MAP-21. States are able to use their remaining SRTS funding, however, no additional SRTS funds are available to the states. Kentucky is in the process of allocating any remaining SRTS funds.
SRTS projects are now an eligible activity under the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). Please see the Transportation Alternatives Program Federal Guidance for more information on SRTS eligibility under TAP. Please note SRTS projects funded with TAP dollars must have a 20% match.
