Changes to Examination Scheduling Procedures

Please be advised that during the May 4, 2015 board meeting the board approved a change to the agency’s exam scheduling process. It was approved for a set schedule to be used for scheduling of all examinations.

These changes will be effective as of the September 2015 examination period. The board will seat for its practical exam a maximum of 40 applicants per Apprentice and Cosmetology examination, with a total of 80 total applicants tested per day. Nail Technology will seat 16 applicants per exam, 32 per month. Esthetics will seat 16 applicants per exam period. Educator/instructor will seat 6 applicants per exam period. The classes will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Once the classes are full for that month the applicants who were not scheduled will be processed for the following months examinations.

Schools should encourage students to file applications as soon as possible and avoid waiting until the deadline date to submit applications as applications will be processed in the order received.
