Volcano Awareness Continues Online

The "official" month promoting volcano awareness has ended, but we hope your quest to better understand Hawaiʻi Island's active volcanoes continues beyond January.

Upcoming event:

Vog — Volcanic Smog, Hawaii island's Number One Health Hazard?
           February 16, 2017 — 6:00-8:00 pm
           West Hawaiʻi Civic Center

This West Hawaiʻi forum will explore the health consequences of long term exposure to volcanic emissions, how topography and trade winds direct vog and create pollution pockets in West Hawaiʻi; how best to live with vog; and new multi-agency vog monitoring and reporting tools now available on-line to the public. For more info, please visit: http://www.westhawaiiforum.org/event/vog/.

Some of the 2017 Volcano Awareness Month talks by HVO scientists and University of Hawaiʻi colleagues were recorded. Links to those videos are listed below: Volcanic air pollution (vog) in Hawaii is the topic of an HVO/Department of Health interview recorded by Na Leo TV (Video on Demand): Big Island Safety: Hawaii Interagency Vog Information Dashboard
