The USDA Economics, Statistics and Market Information System (ESMIS) contains nearly 2,500 reports and datasets from several agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). These materials cover U.S. and international agriculture and related topics. Most reports are text files that contain time-sensitive information. Most data sets are in spreadsheet format and include time-series data that are updated yearly.

The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) develops quality grade standards for agricultural commodities, administers marketing regulatory programs,agreements and orders and purchases food for USDA food assistance programs. The Economic Research Service (ERS) provides economic research and information to inform public and private decision making on economic and policy issues related to agriculture, food, natural resources, and rural America. Foreign Agricultural Service FAS FAS Website | Key Contacts

The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace and provide food aid and technical assistance to foreign countries.

FAS has the primary responsibility for USDA's international activities market development, trade agreements and negotiations, and the collection and analysis of statistics and market information. It also administers USDA's export credit guarantee and food aid programs. Past reports by FAS are available for download on this website. The most current reports are available for download and subscription on the FAS website.


National Agricultural Statistics Service NASS NASS Website | Key Contacts

The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is responsible for conducting monthly and annual surveys and preparing official USDA data and estimates of production, supply, prices, and other information necessary to maintain orderly agricultural operations. NASS also conducts the census of agriculture which is currently conducted every 5 years. World Agricultural Outlook Board WAOB WAOB Website | Key Contacts

The World Agricultural Outlook Board (WAOB) / Office of the Chief Economist serves as USDA's focal point for economic intelligence and the commodity outlook for U.S. and world agriculture. The Board coordinates, reviews, and approves the monthly World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, houses USDA's Joint Agricultural Weather Facility, and coordinates the annual USDA Agricultural Outlook Forum. Albert R. Mann Library, Cornell University Mann Library Website

A land grant library for the State of New York, Albert R. Mann Library is one of the Cornell University Library system's twenty unit libraries. Mann supports Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Human Ecology, Division of Biological Sciences, and Division of Nutritional Sciences and also hosts this Economics and Statistics System.
