As the Director of Reserve and Military Personnel, Rear Admiral Hinrichs is responsible for the development and oversight of military personnel policy programs to recruit, manage, shape and support approximately 7,500 Coast Guard Reserve component members and more than 40,000 Active Duty members.

The office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Force (CGRF-MC) was established in June 1991. As the most senior reserve enlisted member of the Coast Guard, the CGRF-MC serves as trusted advisor and assistant. Master Chief Eric L. Johnson, who has served 33 years in the Coast Guard Reserve, is the sixth person selected to serve as the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Reserve Force. The MCPO-CGRF sets a visible example of the core values of honor, respect and devotion to duty. Those selected to serve in this prestigious position possess the highest standards of professionalism and personal integrity. Generally, the assignment is four years, running concurrently with the tours of the Commandant and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard.
