LSC is the single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income residents in the U.S. and U.S. territories. The organizations that we fund help people who live in households with annual incomes at or below 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

We promote equal access to justice by

• awarding grants to legal aid organizations through a competitive grants process
• conducting compliance reviews to oversee compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as well as restrictions that accompany our funding
• conducting program quality reviews to evaluate the quality of services provided to the client community
• providing training and technical assistance to organizations
